How to get your business mentioned by ChatGPT

No one can buy a spot in an AI answer. Here is what you can actually change.

By CoreTxt · Updated October 9, 2026

AI assistants name businesses they can clearly identify, find consistent details about, and see recommended by other sources. You improve your chances by making your business easy to understand, keeping your details the same everywhere, and being mentioned on trusted sites beyond your own.

How assistants decide who to name

When someone asks an assistant for a recommendation, the answer draws on what the model learned in training and, when the assistant searches the web, on the pages it finds at that moment. Either way, it favors businesses it can identify clearly and that several sources describe the same way.

Seven things you can do

  1. State what you do, and where, in plain words. Put your service, city or service area and who you help in the first lines of your home page and each service page.
  2. Keep your details identical everywhere. Business name, address, phone, hours and category should match on your website, Google Business Profile and the main directories. Mismatches make you look like more than one business.
  3. Add structured data. LocalBusiness or Organization markup tells machines who you are. It must match what is visible on the page.
  4. Answer real customer questions. Write pages for the questions people ask before they buy, with a direct answer first and details after.
  5. Earn mentions on other sites. Reviews, local directories, industry lists and press give assistants independent sources that agree with you.
  6. Do not block the crawlers. Check that your robots.txt and any bot-protection settings are not turning away search and AI crawlers you want to be found by.
  7. Keep pages fast and readable. Clean headings and text that is not hidden behind scripts are easier for systems to read and quote.

How to tell if it is working

Ask the assistants the questions your customers ask and record whether you are named. Our guide on how to test if AI recommends your business shows the steps. Repeat monthly, because answers change.

What no one can promise

No agency controls what ChatGPT or any other assistant says. Anyone who guarantees a mention is guessing. The steps above improve your chances and make your business easier to recommend. They do not guarantee a result.
